| Several local businesses and individuals were
recipients of the Lake Havasu Marine Association's annual 2010 awards. The
London Bridge Yacht Club was honored as "Partner of the Year". Rear
Commodore Bill Horton and member Dan Remy (third and second from the right in
the photo) accepted the award for the yacht club. The recognition was for
the yacht club's participation in continuing lake cleanup efforts, which were
spearheaded by Bill and Dan within our yacht club. |

The Yacht Club maintains a progressive blend of
traditional water-related activities and social events for the membership as
well as aggressive involvement within the community to support both
community-wide events and charitable causes. The Club strives to be aware of
boating safety issues and to support initiatives that will improve boating
safety on our waterways.
The links below provide details and a pictorial review
of some of the major community-related events which the Yacht Club supports.

- London Bridge Yacht Club Charities
- The Yacht Club established London Bridge
Yacht Club Charities, Inc. in 2008 for the purpose of supporting various
Lake Havasu City charities. Donations to this non-profit Corporation are
tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and proceeds from LBYC
Charities, Inc. projects are donated to selected charities throughout
the year. Our partnership with the "Cars 4 Causes" Program
further enhances our ability to support charitable causes within our
community.
- Lake Havasu City's Annual Boat Parade
of Lights
- An annual extravaganza of boats and
lights in early December. Hosted and managed by the
London Bridge Yacht Club for the first time in 2006. Also visit our Parade
of Lights website for additional details.
- Lake Havasu Shoreline Cleanup
- The Lake Havasu Marine Association
spearheads and coordinates a local initiative to keep the shoreline of
our lake clean. London Bridge Yacht Club volunteers, along with
volunteers from other local organizations, comb the shoreline for trash
and debris once or more a month. Click on the link above to see scenes from
recent cleanup efforts.
- Journey of Hope.
-
The Yacht Club volunteers it's boats and
time to support the national Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity whose members ride
bicycles from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. each year during the Summer
months. The purpose of their ride is to increase handicap awareness as part of a Push America
initiative.
- Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Mohave
County
-
The Club lends it's boats and time to
support this most worthy cause.
- Lake Havasu City's London Bridge Days
Parade.
-
The Yacht Club chairs the Committee to
plan and organize this annual parade which is an integral part of
London Bridge Days, a tradition in Lake Havasu for 35 years.
- Lake Havasu City's
Halloween Celebration
- LBYC helps to make the City's celebration a
success (and also has a lot of fun!).
- Support for our Military Service Veterans
- Any number of events occur in Lake Havasu
during a typical year to recognize and honor our military veterans who
have served to protect our Country's freedoms. Recent events have
included the "Soldier's Ride", participation in the London Bridge Days
Parade and dedication of the Memorial Walkway between the London Bridge
and the planned Freedom Bridge. Whenever these events occur, Yacht Club
members are there with their boats to help support our honored veterans.
