The year 2006 marked the Yacht Club's first official Opening Day and we wanted to make it something special, not only for ourselves, but also for our community. So we decided to combine our traditional Opening Day Boat Parade with a dinner and dance, complete with both live and silent auctions, to benefit a local charity. Lake Havasu City Special Olympics was chosen as the organization to support and approximately one week after the event we presented a check for $9,000 to Special Olympics during their Olympic competition held here in Lake Havasu City.
