What's
new?
Our Namesake, the world-famous London
Bridge, was moved from London, England, and rebuilt in Lake Havasu City. The
continued growth of our city and use of the Island has created a need for an
additional bridge to span the Bridgewater Channel, providing more access to the
island. Known as the Freedom Bridge Project, there are also plans for a Veterans
memorial and a historical walkway between the two bridges, telling the story of
America's freedoms. A volunteer community group called the Freedom Bridge
Foundation is coordinating multiple fundraising activities to achieve Project
objectives. The Foundation is now selling customized brick pavers which will
form the Memorial Walkway between the two bridges. London Bridge Yacht Club
members are supporting this effort by purchasing bricks and having them engraved
with their names, the names of honored veterans or their own personal message.
