Wanderlust

Our Yacht Club likes to travel together as a group, even if only a few miles from home. Occasionally, we embark on a longer trip or cruise, and we will chronicle some of them here:

The Desert Bar

South of Lake Havasu, between our city and Parker, Arizona, stands a most unusual grouping of "buildings" and structures. They call it the Desert Bar and it is only open during the the Fall, Winter and early Spring. It's a somewhat rough ride getting there once you leave the paved road, but the trip is definitely worth it. We recently combined a road trip with a poker run, meeting at the Desert Bar to open our poker hands and obtain some much-needed refreshments.

A Cruise to Mexico

The long drive from Lake Havasu to San Diego was soon forgotten after our group of about 50 people boarded the ship for our cruise to Mexican ports. The Captain arranged for our Club Burgee to be flown for the duration of the cruise and posed for pictures with some of our group after lunch one day. One highlight of the cruise was during our stop in Acapulco where we watched the cliff divers thrill the crowd with their daring jumps from the high cliffs into the waters below.
